ARTIST Hugo Bejar Navarro

Hugo Bejar - Marcelas Village Art Gallery - San Francisco Bay Area

Hugo was born in San Blas, heart of Cuzco, capital of the Inca Empire.

He studied art and graduated from the “Escuela Superior Autonoma de Bellas Artes” del Cuzco. Hugo was an Art professor at the Universidad “San Antonio Abad” faculty of Architecture and Plastic Arts until he retired several years ago.

He has been painting for almost 5o years ago. His paintings reflects all this years of experience; he masters all mediums; oil, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media.
His style is mainly indigenous style following the style of Diego Rivera, he also loves to paint murals and big abstracts.

When you are in Cuzco, you will have the opportunity to admire Hugo’s murals full of color, traditions and history.

One of his mural is at exhibition at the hotel “Cuzco” where he painted “Palla Isabel Chimpu Occllo”, mother of the famous mestizo writer “Inca Garcilazo de la Vega”
Hugo enjoyed coaching his students to paint murals while he taught at the University in Cuzco.

He has taken his talent and his paintings on multiple exhibitions in Peru and Europe where he is highly respected for his art. He has participated in more than 300 exhibitions, individuals and collectives and has many awards throughout his vast experience as a master of the arts.

He received two gold medals from the “Association de Artistas Plasticos del Cuzco” and from “Inca Garcilazo de la Vega” Instituto Cultural Nacional del Peru.
Hugo is a truly masterful artist.
